Plagiarism Policy
Plagiarism Policy
Buletin Penelitian Kesehatan is committed to maintaining originality, academic integrity, and responsible scholarly publishing. All submitted manuscripts are subject to similarity screening and editorial evaluation before publication.
Plagiarism is the use of another person's words, ideas, data, images, or other intellectual contributions without appropriate acknowledgment. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts are original and that all sources are properly cited.
1. Similarity Screening
All manuscripts submitted to Buletin Penelitian Kesehatan must be accompanied by a similarity check report.
Overall similarity: maximum 20%
Similarity from any single source: maximum 2%
The similarity percentage is a screening indicator and is not, by itself, a final determination of plagiarism. The Editorial Team will evaluate the nature, location, and context of similarities identified in the report.
2. Forms of Plagiarism
Unacceptable practices include, but are not limited to:
- Copying text from another source without citation or quotation.
- Using another person's ideas or arguments without acknowledgment.
- Close paraphrasing without proper citation.
- Combining copied phrases from several sources to create mosaic or patchwork plagiarism.
- Using tables, figures, photographs, or other materials without proper attribution or permission when required.
- Presenting another person's data or research findings as one's own.
- Using translated material from another source without acknowledgment.
- Reusing substantial parts of one's own previously published work without appropriate disclosure or citation.
3. Self-Plagiarism and Text Recycling
Authors should avoid substantial reuse of their own previously published text, data, tables, or figures without transparent acknowledgment.
Limited text overlap may sometimes be unavoidable, particularly in descriptions of established methods. However, previous work must be cited appropriately, and authors must not present previously published material as new.
4. Duplicate and Redundant Publication
Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time.
A manuscript must not substantially duplicate a previously published article unless the relationship with the earlier publication is clearly disclosed and editorially justified.
5. Citation Integrity
References should be included because they are scientifically relevant to the manuscript.
The journal does not accept:
- Citation manipulation.
- Unnecessary citation of an author's own publications.
- Coercive citation practices.
- Citations added only to increase citation counts.
- Fabricated or unverifiable references.
6. Use of Artificial Intelligence
The use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies does not remove the author's responsibility for originality and proper attribution.
Authors must check AI-assisted content carefully and ensure that it does not reproduce copyrighted or previously published material without appropriate acknowledgment.
AI-generated or AI-assisted references must be verified by the authors. Fabricated references are unacceptable.
7. Editorial Action
When substantial inappropriate similarity or suspected plagiarism is identified, the Editorial Team may take appropriate action depending on the nature and seriousness of the issue.
Before peer review: the manuscript may be returned for correction or rejected.
During peer review: the review process may be suspended while the concern is evaluated.
After publication: the journal may issue a correction, Expression of Concern, or retraction when appropriate.
8. Author Responsibility
Authors are responsible for the originality of their manuscripts, the accuracy of citations, and compliance with copyright and publication ethics.
Authors should use quotation, paraphrasing, and citation appropriately and should verify the manuscript before submission.
